As I have pretty much decided to quit college for good, I suppose I may be a definite :)
I'm pretty flexible with regards to newbies and schedule; I was planning to be in London for a couple of days and sneak off now and then to look at all the lovely exhibits of gruesome medical history though.
So far as I know Kat has booked tickets already. M00bs says he can't come out in the evening. I pointed out that it's mainly a day time thing. Peadar said he was over for one of the days/evenings only. Tom and I are in the non-signing group. And that's all I know.
As for me, I just booked the Friday afternoon off so should be out and about by 1pm latest. I'll likely be going home Friday night cos I MUST receive birthday wishes from Mr Isis on my birthday. :) Then I'll be out again for the next 24 hours. I need to go home Sunday lunchtime as I have family birthday stuff to do.
I think the Sat is going to be a kind of formless day, i.e. a general piss up sort of thing. Why did the bastards have to shut that O'Neils ffs? What time is the signing? Need to choose a pub (pref with food) for hanging out in before and during the signing. We can always go somewhere else later on. (let me hear you say Intrepid Fox! - Tom isn't going to get online in the near future so I'll say it for him: we should go to the Intrepid Fox).
If the signing is late enough we could do sumfin cultural beforehand, innit?
Maybe Friday is the better night for 'doing something'. But, are people going to be arriving at all times of the night? If so, that limits the stuff we can do.
I'm in the non-signing group as well, forgot to mention.
I'm all for sumfin cultural. Sounds like a great thing to do before pub o'clock erases all newly acquired knowledge.
The signing is at 1-2pm, so nice and early :-O Especially for those with hangovers.
Sounds like the plan might be to head into London for revelry Friday afternoon then reconvene Saturday PM, possibly after the signing? It's good that it's early so we don't have to worry about it later and get on with partying/general cultural absorbtion in the afternoon :-)
Right, so we need to work out whether the non-signing people are going to just go to the pub and wait for the signers, or go and do sumfin cultural while the signing is going on. I don't know. My brain is tired from dealing with incompetent people.
What do you think about putting something up on the boards? Do we want to be inundated by n00bs again?
Wasn't aware this was going to be a big meet. Currently not looking a whole lot forward to that side of it to be honest, although I am sure it'll be fun (what can I say, it's been a shitty week).
Anyway, I booked ages ago, accomodation is sorted too.
Okay, cool. See you then then!
how small did you think it was going to be? shall i stay at home? would that make you feel better about it? :p
we are probably about 15 at a maximum, maybe less. that's about half the size of a big meet. i think it's going to work out okay. :)

I'm afraid I'll have to say no, as I want to get down to Poole to see my brother sometime soon, and with that and Denver I won't have the funds for another outing. :(
Okay Malt, catch you another time then :-)
Speaking personally - I think we leave this one off the board - I don't think anyone wants to be caught up with arranging / organising a big meet. I vote for keeping this one simple...
That's what I was thinking as well :-)
seconded. or thirded. it sounds big enough already.
fuck arranging stuff. my brain is on holiday until september.
I'll be there on Saturday. If people are doing stuff on Friday I can probably come down then as well (but not Sunday because I'm going up to Scotland on the Sunday).
On that subject shall we throw this open to other newbies and put up a post about it in the BwB section on the board? Or did we want it to be an 'in-crowd' only job?
I suspect some other people from the boards will be at the signing anyway.
Kit and Fee are coming down. They've booked their tickets.
I don't think we want to get too crazy with inviting people and such. Let's keep as is and if someone wants to do more organising, great! But it ain't gonna be me.

Not going to be available, I'm afraid.
Yeah, lets just keep it to a bunch of friends using a book signing as an excuse to catch up over a fucking shit load of beers. If we should pick up some more folk over the course of the weekend, then so be it but lets not advertise it.
Oh, I doubt I'll be out at all on the friday as I'm picking Zak and Needle up from the airport at 8ish but I'll be out all day on Sat and I'll be about on Sun, should there be any goings on.
I'm definitely out - will be somewhere between Inverness and Thurso at the time. There will be other boozing sessions!

Aha, that's who you are! I was wondering whom this random person was who friended me :-) Not to worry, catch up with you next time!
I should be out Saturday day time. No signing. Yes pub.
Cool stuff, catch up with you then.
What's this signing thing people keep mentioning?
I'll get to London some time Friday evening, leaving again late on Sunday.
sorry mate, won't be making this. Off to France that week for the championships
